About Vince Malfitano

Vince Malfitano is a healthcare professional, business leader, and community advocate whose life and career have been defined by service, leadership, and a deep love for the city he calls home.

A first-generation Sicilian American, Vince has called Monterey home since 1994 and has lived here full-time for twelve years. He and his wife, Roselyn, live in the Skyline Forest neighborhood, where they have built their life together as the proud parents of four children. When he is not working in the community, Vince enjoys spending time with his family, walking through downtown Monterey, and exploring the coastline with their loyal terrier, Louie.

He often says that Monterey is the most special place on Earth — a city whose natural beauty, history, and character must be protected and preserved for future generations.

Professionally, Vince built a distinguished career in healthcare and community leadership. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Pre-Medical Studies from the University of San Francisco before receiving his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Washington University School of Dental Medicine in St. Louis. He went on to establish a successful family dental practice in the San Francisco Bay Area, serving nearly 10,000 patients over more than two decades. During that time, he also served as a trustee of Los Medanos Community Hospital, contributing to hospital governance and community health services.

After retiring from clinical dentistry, Vince applied his healthcare and business expertise to the development and operation of assisted living communities — including facilities specializing in memory care for seniors — as a licensed California Residential Care Facility administrator, ensuring high standards of care for older adults and their families.

Beyond his professional work, Vince has been deeply engaged in Monterey’s civic and cultural life. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the Italian Heritage Society of Monterey and is a founding member and Chief Financial Officer of Friends of Isola delle Femmine, strengthening Monterey’s historic ties to Sicily. He is also active in the Italian Catholic Federation, supporting charitable initiatives and cultural heritage programs throughout the community.

Vince Malfitano

After more than forty years of leadership in healthcare, business, and civic service — and encouraged by members of the local business community and civic leaders — Vince is stepping forward to bring his proven experience to serve the City of Monterey.

He is running for Mayor because he believes Monterey’s current leadership has failed to address the challenges facing our city.

It is time for change — to restore fiscal responsibility, protect our neighborhoods, and ensure city government once again focuses on what matters most: serving the people of Monterey.

As Mayor of Monterey, Vince commits to:

  • Always put public safety first — and never say no to critical public safety needs because of mismanaged budgets
  • Never allow the city to carry unnecessary debt that compromises core services
  • Form an annual Common Sense Audit Committee and publish its findings publicly
  • Never use taxpayer funds for pet projects that are not core city responsibilities
  • Strengthen and support — never burden — Monterey’s Neighborhood Associations
  • Support our family businesses and hospitality economy every single day
  • Govern with transparency, discipline, and deep respect for every Monterey resident

Monterey does not need dramatic reinvention.

It needs disciplined stewardship, honest leadership, and a Mayor who works for you.
